2026 Trans Am and SVRA Seasons Get Underway Friday-Sunday at Sebring Paul Menard Returns to Sebring in Pursuit of Three in a Row

By

In 2024 Paul Menard “unretired” from full-time competition and committed to run the full Trans Am series.

That year, the former NASCAR Cup Series winner came to the season’s first event at Sebring International Raceway with a new team and a history at Sebring that wouldn’t necessarily give him a reason for optimism. In one-off events at Sebring the previous two years he finished eighth and ninth respectively, after qualifying in the top three in both races.

He held off a challenge from another former NASCAR winner, Wally Dallenbach Jr., to take his first Sebring victory. Last year, he again won at Sebring but had similar battles with series standouts including Chris Dyson, Adam Andretti and Amy Ruman. In both years the Wisconsin driver went on to win the Trans Am Series National Championship.

Menard, again driving the No. 3 Pittsburgh Paints/Menards Mustang, will go for his third consecutive Sebring win as part of a 24-car field of Trans Am and GT1 entries in Sunday’s headline 75-minute event at 9:45 a.m. He also led the Trans Am series in 2025 with five wins (11 in the last two seasons) and will be tested by three-time 2025 Trans Am winner Matthew “Matty” Brabham – son of Geoff Brabham and grandson of former Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jack Brabham – as well as Andretti – brother of the late John Andretti and the nephew of Mario Andretti.

Andretti is also entered in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in St. Petersburg.

Chris Dyson, who won three races in the series last year and has won 28 overall, will not compete at Sebring and will step back to a limited schedule in Trans Am. Teammate Brabham will drive the No. 16 Gym Weed Mustang left vacant by Dyson. Ruman, a long-time Trans Am competitor and two-time winner, is recovering from an off-track leg injury and also will miss Sebring.
