Trans Am Season Opens at Sebring with SVRA Speed Tour

The Trans Am Series comes thundering into Sebring International Raceway Feb. 19-21 as part of the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) Spring Classic Speed Tour.

The series dates back to 1966, when Sebring hosted the first-ever Trans Am race. Throughout the years, some of the greatest names in motorsports have participated in the Trans Am Series. Names like Tommy Kendall, Mark Donohue, Peter Gregg and Bob Tullius have all won multiple championships under the Trans Am name.

Trans Am has recently experienced unprecedented growth with a new class-based structure. Five distinct classes now take center stage — TA, XGT, TA2u2122, SGT and GT — featuring 70-car-plus fields populated by Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and Corvettes — a massive dose of pure Americana, with just a touch of nostalgia. While it may be tempting to label this the ‘new Trans Am,‘ it is more of a return to the true Trans Am.

The SVRA boasts a wide variety of vintage and historic classes, making the Feb. 19-21 weekend a fantastic three days of family fun. Tickets can be ordered online at svra.com or purchased at the gate.
