TECH NOTES

  • ANNUAL TECH
    • Sebring Historics will honor current annual tech from any VMC organization. You will need to present your logbook with the endorsement to tech in order to get your tech sheet. Annual tech means that YOU become the tech inspector. That means once you have the tech sheet you must go through the checklist on your car and sign it off. Once you have completed the inspection, you may return it to tech for your sticker. We do not need to see your helmet or gear.
    • HANS devices are highly recommended but are not mandatory
  • HELMETS
    • All drivers should now have Snell SA-2005 (or newer) helmets
  • ADDITIONAL INSPECTIONS
    • Having passed safety tech or annual tech, you may still be subject to rules compliance checks which could include weight, engine displacement, wing height (if appropriate), tires, brakes, etc. These could occur at any time during the event.
  • ENDUROS
    • Both enduros will run late in the day. That means that the sun angle will be low during the last portion of the race, so make sure you have adequate eye and glare protection. Tape on the top of the windshield in closed cars helps.
    • The Friday Twilight Enduro is intended to run into semi-darkness. Cars are not required to have headlights and tail lights, but those that do not may be black flagged if darkness makes them a hazard to other cars and drivers. We will do our best to keep you on track if possible.

SEBRING HISTORICS NAMES VINTAGE SPEED TO MANAGE EVENT

Sebring International Raceway announced that Vintage Speed LLC will serve as the event manager for the Sebring Historics scheduled for October 25-28, 2012. In conjunction with the 60th anniversary celebration of the Sebring 12 hour classic, the track is creating an annual event to honor the historic cars that have competed on the legendary circuit. Participation is open to all vintage and historic cars meeting the usual eligibility criteria for these types of events.

Sebring International Raceway President, Tres Stephenson stated: "We are very pleased to bring onboard a well recognized team who specializes in vintage and historic racing events. We have worked with Vintage Speed in previous events and were very pleased with their professionalism and the reputation they hold for running well managed races. I think our racers are going to be very pleased to work with Dan Schmutte, Carl Jensen, Jack Woerhle and the Vintage Speed team."

Dan Schmutte, president of Vintage Speed commented: "We have a well established group of racing professionals who are recognized throughout the vintage community for their courtesy, knowledge and customer focus. I know our friends in racing are always pleased to see familiar faces at the track and rely upon us to ensure events are well planned and flawlessly executed. Many of us are racers ourselves so we connect well with our customers. We are looking forward to kicking off the Sebring Historics and helping to build it into one of the major vintage racing events in the US."

Carl Jensen, the events Competition Director noted:"As soon as we got the go ahead I began talking with racers in the community. The feedback is very positive and we are seeing strong interest in this event. It falls at an opportune time on the racing calendar and we can assure our customers they will see safe and competitive racing with an interesting format and rules with which they are familiar. We are expecting a significant turnout so everyone will have an opportunity to race with friends and fellow competitors."

Ticket information and details on how to register a car for the inaugural Sebring Historics will be posted on sebringraceway.com in the near future.

Sebring International Raceway is Americas oldest permanent road racing circuit. The 3.74 circuit evolved from a WWII B-17 training base called Hendricks Field. Since 1952 it has hosted the 12-hour endurance classic, Americas premier sports car race.
